What started as a steady drip soon became a flood of big concert announcements hitting the Detroit headlines: Bon Jovi. The Orion festival. Beyoncé. Tim McGraw. Justin Bieber. Jay-Z with Justin Timberlake. Jimmy Buffett. Kid Rock. And Kid Rock. And Kid Rock.
“It all just started to snowball,” says Live Nation’s Dave Clark.
....More stuff is on the way, with tours by the Backstreet Boys and Sammy Hagar expected to announce Detroit dates. And momentum will carry into the fall, when acts such as Drake and Nine Inch Nails will head out.
“When you make sure things are priced appropriately and the economy does improve,” says Clark, “it opens up new opportunities for this marketplace.”
