[NEWS] BACKSTREET BOYS KEVIN RICHARDSON On Leaving: 'I Had Nothing To Give'

Kevin Richardson has explained what led him to temporarily quit the Backstreet Boys several years ago.

Richardson left the boyband in 2006 to take time away from the spotlight in order to start a family with his wife Kristin.

The singer returned to the Backstreet Boys on a full-time basis in April 2012, and is featured on the group's new album In a World Like This.

Richardson discussed his long history with the group on Access Hollywood, and revealed his reasons for leaving and subsequently returning to the band.

"I didn't have anything left in the tank," Richardson said. "In 2006, there were some things I wanted to do in my own life and start a family and be normal for a while... I didn't feel inspired."

He added of reuniting with the Backstreet Boys: "Now, recently I felt inspired and wanted to create again and make music again."

Richardson and his wife recently welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Maxwell Haze Richardson.

The Backstreet Boys are currently on a tour which is currently slated to run through October.
