[NEWS] BACKSTREET BOYS: One Direction Can't Dance Like Us

Although they're the darlings of the moment, the One Direction lads are still some way off from reaching the heights of the Backstreet Boys.

Together for a remarkable 20 years, BSB are the bestselling boy band ever, having shifted over 130 million records - and they've got some opinions on Harry Styles, 19, Niall Horan, 19, Liam Payne, 19, Louis Tomlinson, 21, and Zayn Malik, 20.

'It's like looking into a mirror,' AJ McLean, 35, tells Now's Dan Wootton. 'There are a lot of similarities. 1D work with similar producers and their songs have quite similar production and titles.

'But there are some obvious differences, such as the fact they don't dance.'

And Brian Littrell, 38, adds: 'A boy band has a shelf life of two or three years. 'But we've been going for 20 years now.'

They've got some words of advice for Harry, who has found himself the centre of attention thanks to his love life.

'We've all had our share of that,' says Nick Carter, 33. 'But I'll tell you this: you get as much attention as you want.

'At the end of the day we could all say: "We don't want to be with
a normal girl. We want to have some more attention by going out there."

'But that doesn't work for us. I've been there and it was a lot of pressure.

'It takes away from what you have really set out to do. That hoopla takes away from the music - I learnt that the hard way.
'

Backstreet Boys - AJ, Nick, Brian, Kevin Richardson, 41, and Howie Dorough, 39 - have a new single out called In A World Like This.

Their album of the same name is out on 29 July and they'll tour the UK later this year.
