Unlike N’Sync and the New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys don’t have a gay member (not openly, anyway). So its extra-super-keen that they included a shoutout to marriage equality in the new video for the single, “In a World Like This.”
In the clip, the lead single for the band’s new album on the same name, a couple watches history unfold on their TV set—including the moon landing, race riots and the wedding of two men. The final image is something of a counterpoint to all the turmoil they’ve seen on the small screen.
Our gal Michelle Visage posted the clip and commented, “So happy to see the BSB’s back in action and supporting gay marriage too! -
The song—and the band’s look—are a definite departure from their heyday in the 1990s. Is that Brian Littrell playing the acoustic guitar? And when did A.J. McLean become a sexy hipster daddy?
At any rate, BSB have been good to the gays of late—they even performed with the Wanted at London’s mega-queer club, G.A.Y.
